Dusk Sheet Set Queen

The Dusk Sheet Set Queen is the sateen set for a 60 x 80 in mattress: a fitted sheet with a 16 in pocket, a 90 x 102 in flat sheet, and two standard pillowcases (20 x 30 in). The set weighs 2.2 kg (4.9 lb). Sateen floats each thread over three and under one, which puts more thread on the surface and gives the smooth hand and the soft sheen. The count is 400 threads per square inch by the single-yarn method. It sleeps a little warmer than percale and drapes more closely to the body.

The fitted sheet is elasticated all the way around and the flat sheet has a 4 in top hem to fold down. Woven and sewn in Portugal from 100% long-staple cotton. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low and take it out while it is still a little warm; percale irons well on medium if you like it pressed, sateen needs no ironing. Sateen shows a snag more readily than percale, so keep rough heels and pet claws in mind.

Questions

Does sateen pill? Long-staple cotton pills far less than short-staple, and this sateen is long-staple throughout. Drying on low and taking it out promptly is what keeps the surface smooth over years.

I like the feel of sateen but sleep hot. Any advice? Use the Dusk fitted sheet with the Field flat sheet in the same color; the percale on top lets more air through. Or choose the Field Sheet Set Queen outright.
