Dusk Sheet Set Full

The Dusk Sheet Set Full is the sateen set for a double bed: a fitted sheet for a 54 x 75 in mattress with a 16 in pocket, an 81 x 96 in flat sheet, and two standard pillowcases (20 x 30 in). The set weighs 1.9 kg (4.2 lb). Sateen floats each thread over three and under one, which puts more thread on the surface and gives the smooth hand and the soft sheen. The count is 400 threads per square inch by the single-yarn method. It sleeps a little warmer than percale and drapes more closely to the body.

Elastic all the way around the fitted sheet, a 4 in top hem on the flat sheet, and envelope-back pillowcases. Woven and sewn in Portugal from 100% long-staple cotton, in Ink, Oat or Thyme. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low and take it out while it is still a little warm; percale irons well on medium if you like it pressed, sateen needs no ironing.

Which is warmer, sateen or percale? Sateen. The floats put more cotton on the surface, so the Dusk sheets feel smoother and sleep a little warmer. The Field Sheet Set Full is the percale version if you run hot.

Why is the thread count 400 when other sateens say 800? We count single yarns, the way the ASTM method does. Some labels count each ply of a two-ply yarn separately and double the number. A 400 single-yarn sateen is a dense weave.
