Field Sheet Set Twin

The Field Sheet Set Twin is the percale set for a single bed: a fitted sheet for a 39 x 75 in mattress with a 16 in pocket, a 66 x 96 in flat sheet, and one standard pillowcase (20 x 30 in). The set weighs 1.4 kg (3.1 lb). Percale is a plain over-under weave: one thread over, one under, which gives a crisp, matte surface that feels cool against the skin and gets softer with every wash. The count is 270 threads per square inch by the single-yarn method, which is the honest way to count and the reason the number is lower than the ones on many boxes.

The fitted sheet has elastic all the way around, not just at the corners, so it stays put on a bunk or a mattress with a topper. The flat sheet has a 4 in top hem. Woven and sewn in Portugal from 100% long-staple cotton. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low and take it out while it is still a little warm; percale irons well on medium if you like it pressed, sateen needs no ironing.

Questions

Will the fitted sheet fit a 12 in mattress with a 2 in topper? Yes. The pocket is 16 in deep, so it takes any mattress up to about 15 in, or a 12 in mattress with a 3 in topper. The flat sheet is 66 in wide, which leaves a 13 in tuck on each side of a 39 in mattress.

Why only one pillowcase? A twin bed usually has one pillow. If you want a second, the Field Pillowcase Pair Standard is the same percale in the same three colors.

Does percale shrink? Up to about 3 percent on the first wash, which the cut allows for. Wash warm, dry low, and take it out of the dryer before it is bone dry to keep the surface smooth.
